Ingredients
  

Steak and Sauce
  • 1.5 lbs sirloin steak thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1-2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
Bowls
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 4 green onions sliced
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Rice cooker or microwave
  • Knife and cutting board

Method
 

  1. Prepare rice and keep warm.
  2. Slice steak thinly, pat dry, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in large skillet over high heat.
  4. Sear steak in batches 1-2 minutes per side until medium-rare. Remove to plate.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Add remaining oil and butter.
  6. Sauté garlic and chili flakes 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Add soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil. Simmer 1 minute.
  8. Return steak to skillet and toss in sauce for 1 minute.
  9. Assemble bowls with rice, steak, green onions, and sesame seeds.

Notes

Work quickly on high heat for best sear. Adjust chili flakes for desired spice level.
