- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook diced onion and bell pepper for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and brown sugar.
- Season with smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer mixture for 8–10 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Toast sandwich buns and spoon turkey mixture onto buns to serve.
Notes
For extra flavor add diced carrots or mushrooms to the turkey mixture while cooking.
