Ingredients
  

Noodles
  • 8 oz rice noodles
  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Aromatics
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 red chili peppers sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
Sauce
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp water
Finish
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp lime juice

Equipment

  • Wok or large skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Knife
  • Tongs or chopsticks

Method
 

  1. Cook rice noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Toss sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch and marinate briefly.
  3. Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and water.
  4. Heat oil in a wok and stir-fry beef until browned, then remove.
  5. Cook garlic, chili peppers, and onion until fragrant.
  6. Add noodles and toss with aromatics.
  7. Return beef to pan and pour sauce over noodles.
  8. Toss everything together and cook until heated through.
  9. Stir in basil and lime juice and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra heat, add chili paste or crushed red pepper flakes.
