Ingredients
  

Beef and Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
Bowl Base
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 0.5 cup green onions sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Rice cooker or pot
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Cook rice according to package instructions and keep warm.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook ground beef until browned.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. In a bowl mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Pour sauce over beef and stir well.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water and add to the skillet to thicken the sauce.
  7. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until sauce coats the beef.
  8. Serve beef over rice and garnish with carrots, green onions, and sesame seeds.

Notes

Add broccoli, cucumber, or avocado for extra freshness and texture.
