Ingredients
  

Boba Pearls
  • 0.5 cup dried tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups water for boiling
Tea Base
  • 2 black tea bags or 2 tbsp loose tea
  • 2 cups hot water
Milk
  • 1 cup milk any type
Brown Sugar Syrup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 cup ice cubes as needed

Method
 

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil in a saucepan.
  2. Add 1/2 cup dried tapioca pearls and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Meanwhile, steep the black tea in 2 cups of hot water for 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.
  4. In a small pan, combine brown sugar and 1/4 cup water. Heat until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
  5. Drain the cooked boba pearls using a strainer and rinse under cold water.
  6. Soak the rinsed boba in the brown sugar syrup for 10 minutes to absorb sweetness.
  7. In serving glasses, add cooked boba, ice cubes, brewed tea, and milk. Stir well.
  8. Serve immediately with wide straws and enjoy your homemade boba milk tea!

Notes

Boba pearls are best enjoyed fresh. Store cooked boba in syrup for up to a few hours. Adjust milk and sugar to taste.
