- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare loaf pan.
- Sauté diced onions and garlic until caramelized.
- Combine meats, eggs, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire, thyme, salt, pepper, and sautéed onions.
- Fold in shredded Swiss cheese.
- Shape into loaf in prepared pan and bake 35–40 minutes.
- Caramelize sliced onion topping with butter and sugar, add beef broth and simmer.
- Top meatloaf with caramelized onions and shredded cheese.
- Bake 5–7 more minutes until cheese melts.
- Rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.
