Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk
Cinnamon Filling
  • 0.33 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1.5 tbsp ground cinnamon
Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp milk as needed

Method
 

  1. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream butter and sugar, then add egg, vanilla, and milk.
  3. Mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms and chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Prepare cinnamon filling with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  5. Roll dough into rectangles, spread filling, roll into logs, and chill again.
  6. Slice into rounds and bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes.
  7. Cool completely and frost with cream cheese frosting.

Notes

Chilling the dough thoroughly helps maintain beautiful cinnamon swirls during baking.
