Ingredients

Main Dish
  • 1 large green cabbage chopped
  • 6 slices turkey bacon chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Chef knife
  • Wooden spoon

Method

  1. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Cook chopped turkey bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5–6 minutes.
  3. Remove turkey bacon and set aside, leaving a little drippings in the skillet.
  4. Add olive oil and butter, then cook sliced onion for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  5. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add cabbage, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and optional red pepper flakes.
  7. Cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and golden on the edges.
  8. Return crispy turkey bacon to the skillet and toss together.
  9. Finish with parsley and lemon juice if desired, then serve hot.

Notes

For the best crispy texture, let the cabbage sit between stirs so it can caramelize properly.
