Crockpot Pizza Casserole

Ingredients
  

Main Dish
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 24 oz pizza sauce
  • 14 oz diced tomatoes drained
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices
  • 0.5 cup cooked sausage optional
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped

Equipment

  • Crockpot or slow cooker
  • Large skillet
  • Pot for pasta
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta 2 to 3 minutes less than package directions and drain.
  2. Brown ground beef and onion in olive oil until fully cooked.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Drain grease and stir in pizza sauce, tomatoes, and seasonings.
  5. Grease crockpot and layer half the pasta, half the sauce, half the cheeses, and half the pepperoni.
  6. Repeat remaining layers.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours until hot and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers between the layers. Avoid overcooking the pasta before slow cooking.
