Hot Chocolate
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • whipped cream for topping
  • mini marshmallows optional
  • candy cane optional garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat milk and heavy cream in a saucepan until steaming but not boiling.
  2. Whisk in cocoa powder and sugar until dissolved.
  3. Add chocolate chips and stir until fully melted and creamy.
  4. Reduce heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or candy cane.

Notes

Add peppermint extract for a festive twist.
