Ingredients
  

Spiced Cranberry Juice
  • 4 cups cranberry juice unsweetened or lightly sweetened
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries or frozen
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3-4 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise optional
  • 2-3 tbsp honey or maple syrup to taste
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract optional
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger sliced, optional

Method
 

  1. Combine cranberry juice, cranberries, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and ginger in a saucepan.
  2. Stir in honey or maple syrup.
  3. Warm the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer gently.
  4. Simmer for 10 minutes, then turn off heat and let steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the mixture to remove solids.
  6. Serve warm in mugs, garnished as desired.

Notes

Simmer gently to avoid bitterness from the spices. Adjust sweetness at the end.
