Ingredients
  

Mini Cake Base
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Christmas Tree Buttercream
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • green gel food coloring
Decoration
  • white snowflake sprinkles
  • white sugar pearls
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Christmas tree mold or sheet pan
  • Piping bag

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease tree molds or line a sheet pan with parchment.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  4. Fill molds or pour batter onto sheet pan.
  5. Bake 12–15 minutes (molds) or 18–20 minutes (sheet cake).
  6. Beat butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar gradually.
  7. Add milk and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
  8. Tint frosting green and chill 10 minutes.
  9. Frost mini cakes and decorate with snowflakes and pearls.

Notes

For a snowy effect, chill cakes before dusting with powdered sugar.
