Ingredients
  

Meringue Base
  • 2 large egg whites at room temperature
  • 0.25 tsp cream of tartar optional
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
Add-Ins
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet

  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form and sugar dissolves.
  4. Fold in vanilla, salt, chocolate chips, and nuts.
  5. Drop spoonfuls onto baking sheets.
  6. Place in oven, turn off heat, and leave overnight (8-10 hours).
  7. Remove and store in airtight container.

Notes

For best results, make on a dry day to avoid stickiness. Customize with different nuts or chips.
