Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp almond extract optional
  • 0.25 cup sour cream
Frosting
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pink food coloring

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, vanilla, almond extract, and sour cream; mix well.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients.
  6. Scoop dough, place on baking sheet, and flatten slightly.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes and cool completely.
  8. Prepare frosting by beating butter, powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla.
  9. Add pink coloring and frost cooled cookies.

Notes

Do not overbake for best soft texture. Chill dough if too sticky.
