Method
- Preheat oven to 325°F. Season short ribs with salt and pepper.
- Sear ribs in hot oil in Dutch oven until browned. Remove.
- Sauté onion and garlic in same pot.
- Add cranberries, wine, broth, vinegar, sugar. Return ribs and add herbs.
- Cover and braise in oven 2.5-3 hours until tender.
- Boil and mash potatoes with butter, cream, and sour cream. Season.
- Discard herbs from ribs. Serve over mashed potatoes with sauce.
Notes
Can be made in slow cooker on low for 8 hours. Make ahead for better flavor.
