Ingredients
  

Steak
  • 2 ribeye steaks about 1 inch thick
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic smashed
  • 3 fresh rosemary sprigs
  • 2 fresh thyme sprigs

Equipment

  • Cast iron skillet
  • Tongs

Method
 

  1. Bring steaks to room temperature and pat completely dry.
  2. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat cast iron skillet until very hot and add oil.
  4. Sear steaks until deep golden crust forms, then flip.
  5. Add butter, garlic, rosemary, and thyme.
  6. Baste steaks continuously with melted herb butter.
  7. Rest steaks before serving and finish with flaky sea salt.

Notes

Always let steak rest before slicing to keep juices inside and maintain tenderness.
