- Line an 8-inch square pan with foil or parchment, leaving overhang. Lightly grease.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt. Bring to a full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Boil for exactly 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat. Add chocolate chips and stir until melted and smooth.
- Stir in vanilla and nuts (if using).
- Fold in marshmallows until fully melted and mixture is glossy.
- Pour into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Cool at room temperature or refrigerate until firm. Cut into squares.
Notes
Boil exactly 5 minutes for perfect texture. Store in airtight container.
