Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.25 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for icing
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened for icing
  • 1-2 tbsp milk for icing
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract for icing
  • 24 mini chocolate chips for eyes/nose

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla and red food coloring.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Shape dough into small bear shapes on prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake 10–12 minutes; cool completely on wire racks.
  8. Beat butter and powdered sugar, add milk and vanilla to make icing.
  9. Pipe icing onto cooled cookies; use chocolate chips for eyes and nose.
  10. Allow icing to set 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Optional: add sprinkles or edible glitter for extra festive flair.
