Ingredients
  

Beef Patties
  • 1 lb ground beef 80–85% lean
  • 0.33 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 0.25 cup onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
Mushroom Gravy
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. In a bowl combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, ketchup, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into 4–5 oval patties.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet and brown patties on both sides for about 3–4 minutes per side.
  4. Remove patties and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet melt butter and cook sliced onions and mushrooms until softened.
  6. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and cook for 1 minute.
  7. Slowly add beef broth while stirring to create gravy.
  8. Add Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and pepper.
  9. Return patties to skillet and simmer covered for 10–12 minutes until cooked through.

Notes

Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice for a classic comfort meal.
