Ingredients
  

Beef
  • 3 lb beef chuck roast
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Serving
  • 6 slices Texas toast
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes prepared

Method
 

  1. Season roast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Sear roast in olive oil until browned on all sides.
  3. Place onions and garlic in slow cooker and top with roast.
  4. Add onion soup mix, broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Cook on low for 8–9 hours until fork-tender.
  6. Remove beef and shred with forks.
  7. Make cornstarch slurry and stir into slow cooker juices.
  8. Cook until gravy thickens.
  9. Toast bread and prepare mashed potatoes.
  10. Assemble with toast, beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra rich flavor, use homemade mashed potatoes and allow the beef to rest briefly before shredding.
