Ingredients
  

Chicken and Sauce
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
Pasta and Toppings
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.25 cup fresh basil chopped

Equipment

  • Slow cooker
  • Large pot
  • Mixing spoon

Method
 

  1. Grease the slow cooker with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker and season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Pour marinara sauce over the chicken and add minced garlic.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours until chicken is tender.
  5. Remove chicken, shred with two forks, and return it to the sauce.
  6. Cook pasta separately according to package instructions and drain.
  7. Add cooked pasta to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the sauce.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan over the pasta mixture.
  9. Cover and cook for 10–15 minutes until cheese melts.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.

Notes

For a creamy version, stir in ½ cup heavy cream before adding the cheese.
