Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.25 cup white onion diced
  • 0.5 cup tomato sauce
  • 4 cups chicken broth warm
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

  • Large skillet or saucepan

Method
 

  1. Rinse rice under cold water and drain well.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and toast rice until lightly golden.
  3. Add garlic and onion, cooking briefly until fragrant.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Add warm broth and seasonings, then bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 18 to 20 minutes.
  7. Rest off heat for 5 minutes, then fluff and serve.

Notes

Do not stir while simmering for best texture.
