- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla, and orange zest; mix well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in chopped fresh cranberries.
- Scoop dough into balls and roll generously in coarse sparkling sugar.
- Place on baking sheets, flatten slightly, and bake 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
- Cool on sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
Notes
Use fresh cranberries for best flavor and moisture. Chill dough if too sticky. Optional orange glaze for extra sweetness.
