Strawberry Cinnamon Rolls (Valentine Day Brunch Idea)

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup warm milk 110°F / 43°C
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg large
Strawberry Filling
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
Cream Cheese Glaze
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp milk

Method
 

  1. Combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, egg, salt, and flour. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
  3. Prepare strawberry filling: cook strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and cinnamon over medium heat 3–4 minutes. Cool.
  4. Roll dough into 12x16 inch rectangle. Spread strawberry filling evenly.
  5. Roll dough tightly, cut into 12 rolls, and place in greased 9x13 inch pan.
  6. Let rolls rise 30–40 minutes until puffy.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  8. Prepare cream cheese glaze: beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls.
  9. Garnish with fresh strawberries and optional powdered sugar. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients and chill strawberry filling if preparing ahead.
