Ingredients
  

Bread Pudding Base
  • 6 cups day-old bread cubed
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon optional
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 0.5 cup raisins or dried cranberries optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cube the day-old bread and place in the baking dish.
  3. Whisk together milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour melted butter over bread, add optional raisins, then pour custard mixture over top.
  5. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to absorb.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and set.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve warm with optional toppings.

Notes

Use day-old bread for best texture; customize with fruits or nuts.
