Ingredients
  

Salad Base
  • 5 large carrots peeled and julienned
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Julienne peeler or knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring spoons

Method
 

  1. Peel the carrots and julienne them into thin matchsticks or ribbons.
  2. Place the carrots in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add garlic, green onions, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, chili flakes, optional red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Toss thoroughly until all carrots are evenly coated.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped cilantro over the top.
  6. Let the salad sit for 5–10 minutes for the flavors to blend.
  7. Serve immediately or chill before serving.

Notes

For best texture, use fresh firm carrots and let the salad rest briefly before serving.
